  • Overview

    Assist with general maintenance and repair, painting, fire watch, warehouse and dock housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in yard facility maintenance.
    • Assist Port Mechanics with general maintenance and repairs.
    • Fire watch during welding operations.
    • Painting projects on vessels or in warehouse as directed.
    • Assist in shipping/receiving as needed.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in the maritime industry preferred.
    • Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port, climb ladders, lift 50 pounds, and perform related manual labor tasks.
    • Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
    • Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
    • Must obtain TWIC within 60 days of hire.
    • Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
    • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
    • Valid Washington State drivers' license and clean driving record.

    Job Condition and Environment

    • Required to work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs.
    • Required to work outside in all weather conditions.

    Expected Hours of Work

    • Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    • May be required to occasionally work overtime.
